Dave Kunath's Most Promising Pair...

...who've yet to lay an egg. Cock AU-2025-CBS-390 and hen AU-2024-DTL-24111 combine outstanding genetics from Guy Van Der Auwera's Early Grey family and Hardy Kruger's Black Power family. Although they paired up quickly on their own in loft this past November, the couple hasn't yet contributed a young bird to Remy's Bird Shed.

Khalid Yahya's Tiger Grizzle Family

Tiger grizzle is a pigeon color that mixes dark black and white feathers to create a mottled, spotted, or piebald appearance. It is a unique genetic mutation distinct from the genes that produce other types of grizzles. Khalid Yahya's loft includes a family of tiger grizzles.

Learning to Fly

When young pigeons are first let out of their home loft into the open air uncaged, they often jump up onto the roof of the loft to study their surroundings, as these youngsters are doing at Khalid Yahya's loft in DeWitt.

Combine Basketing

On basketing day, each of the participating clubs meet to basket racing birds at their respective clubhouses. Then the clubs' race secretaries drive the birds a central location to transfer the birds (still in race baskets) onto the combine trailer. The trailer is driven to a release point so that birds from all over the state can be released at the same time, from the same location, for each race.
